HAMMERS presents:
THE KOOKS OF HAZZARD

Blacken Open Air is the most isolated heavy music festival in the world. Located on Arrernte country 80km outside of Alice Springs in the middle of the desert, stunning mountains and landscape adorn the back drop to performances by some of Australia’s most interesting heavy music acts over three days.

I was fortunate enough to accompany the lads in QLD’s Hammers all the way out to the Northern Territory for this incredible festival and go with them on a journey out into Australia’s ancient and beautiful desert landmarks including Uluru and Kata-tjuta.

This short documentary aims to not only be a recap of the experience but also a celebration of the mateship found in forming and performing with a band, as well a window into the complexities involved in touring within the Australian music industry.

THE ZOO 30th ANNIVERSARY DOCUMENTARY

I was commissioned by the previous owners of The Zoo, Boo and Cat Johnson, to construct an oral reflection of the 30 year history of Brisbane’s iconic The Zoo in Fortitude Valley to be screened at the launch of the venue’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Combining historical footage from the opening night in December of 1992 with present day footage of sold out shows, this documentary showcases a juxtaposition of 30 years of history in one of Queensland’s most enduring institutes of live music.

The short documentary features reflections from Regurgitator’s Ben Ely, Violent Soho’s Luke Henery, Powderfinger’s Ian Haug, Meg Washington, Oztix Founder Brian “Smash” Chladl, booking agents Dom Miller and Ruby-Jean McCabe and original venue owner Joc Curran.

Fun bonus fact: The Zoo was opened the same week I was born
